IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
This cream is not a medicine; however, it does contain substances that physically interact with the skin and may affect the way some other topical medications work. Your doctor will advise you on how to use Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream in conjunction with drug therapies.
Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream contains a range of naturally derived and purified ingredients that are suitable for topical use in most rosacea sufferers as well as the general population; however, this does not exclude the possibility that they may cause personal sensitivity reactions in certain individuals.
- CHECK the ingredient list before use; do not use if you suspect an allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients (unless advised by a doctor).
- TEST the product by applying a small amount to normal, healthy skin (“patch test”). If no irritation or redness occurs after a few hours, you can apply the product to the skin affected by rosacea.
If at any time while using this product you experience unusual redness, tenderness, or other adverse reactions, consult a physician.
For rapid relief of redness and better skin comfort during application, you can keep this cream refrigerated.
Use as a cleansing “cold cream”:
Dab the cream sparingly onto the skin affected by rosacea, then rinse under running lukewarm water, pat dry with a soft towel and then apply your usual skin care routine.
For routine use:
Can be used as both a cleanser (rinse-off) and a soothing moisturizer (spread-on). For best results, apply generously to rosacea-affected and prone areas at least twice daily. Follow with your usual skin care routine.
This product does not contain sunscreen.
If symptoms persist, contact your doctor. Tell your doctor that you are using this cream.
ABOUT THIS FORMULATED MEDICAL DEVICE:

• Some people may be sensitive to the ingredients. Check before using this or any topical product and do a patch test before application.
• Except for personal intolerance to one or more of the ingredients, no adverse effects are to be expected when this product is used as intended.
INGREDIENTS:
AQUA, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (Jojoba) SEED OIL, COCOS NUCIFERA (Coconut) OIL, CETEARETH-20, TOCOPHEROL, GLUCONOLACTONE, NIACINAMIDE, TAURINE, PHENOXYETHANOL, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, ETHYL ASCORBIC AC ID (vitamin C), RETINYL PALMITATE (retinol) (<0.1%), LACTIC ACID. (pH 4.5)
PURPOSE OF USE:
Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream is intended to help normalize the appearance, structure and functionality of the epidermis by providing a low-irritant moisturizing treatment and an emollient protective barrier. It is intended for topical use when the epidermis is compromised, prone to or affected by local inflammation, such as sensitivity, erythema (redness), telangiectasia (appearance of red blood vessels on the surface of the skin) and papules and/or pustules. It is non-sterile and not intended for use in the breached dermis.
When first applied, Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream glides smoothly and easily over the skin without pulling. As the moisture, low molecular weight lipids and ingredients are gradually absorbed, it leaves a non-sticky, smooth, protective finish.
Most users will find it non-sensitizing and non-burning, however sensitivity and severity of rosacea symptoms can vary greatly. Even this very mild formulation may cause an uncomfortable tingling sensation when first used. For this reason, we recommend using it as a conditioner/cleanser initially until individual skin sensitivity and reactivity have been tested.
Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream can be kept refrigerated so the cool sensation also helps relieve sensitivity.
Once you have determined that this product does not cause discomfort, it is recommended for frequent (i.e. at least twice daily) use as both a cleanser and a moisturizer.
CONSTRUCTION:
The product is formulated as a complex "oil-in-water" cream. Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream contains no dyes, fragrances or other substances known to trigger rosacea.
The product has a high water content (65%) and feels like a cold cream; application to the skin provides a quick, soothing and calming, non-burning, slightly cooling sensation.
Rosacea patients have been shown to have impaired skin barrier homeostasis, resulting in increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and increased sensitivity. Patients with papulopustular rosacea have more alkaline facial skin and lower epidermal hydration. In addition, they have reduced levels of sebum lipids, which are known to contribute to the barrier function of the stratum corneum.
This "complex cream" has been formulated using a range of biocompatible lipids that help replenish emollient and structural lipids in the stratum corneum. These include complex esters, naturally occurring hydrocarbons, and both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with a wide range of chain lengths. Complex creams are generally more effective at reducing transepidermal water loss and normalizing skin capacity than simple creams or those with only one lipid source.
Maintaining a correct balance of hydration of the stratum corneum has a positive effect on its mechanical and optical properties, contributes to maintaining the skin barrier function and plays an important role in the regulation and activation of both intra- and extracellular enzymes responsible for normal skin function.
Passive antimicrobial substances
Staphylococcus epidermidis and other opportunistic pathogens are commonly seen in rosacea-prone skin. Antimicrobials that affect the cell wall and/or metabolism of these organisms are also often irritants and therefore not indicated in products used to treat rosacea. Graham's Natural Rosacea Cream is not an antiseptic; however, the ingredients have been selected to ensure that they are both kind to sensitive skin and cannot serve as a source of energy or nutrients for skin bacteria.
• Medium-chain triglycerides, which moisturize and soften the skin, may help suppress the growth of some bacteria
• Taurine and Glyceryl (Mono) Caprylate moisturize, soften and condition the skin, and they are also antinutrients that are difficult for some bacteria to ferment.
• The slightly acidic pH of the skin (the result of the absorption of very dilute lactic acid) is considered particularly useful for reducing bacterial colonization of the skin and is important for restoring skin health.
antioxidants
The skin is a major target of oxidative stress, which is due to the presence of reactive oxygen species (ROS) (free radicals) that originate from both the environment and skin metabolism. Healthy skin counteracts ROS with natural antioxidants. However, increased or prolonged presence of free radicals can override these defense mechanisms and trigger inflammatory, cellular response. ROS remediation has been proposed as a remedy, maintained by some prescribed drug treatments that are usually effective for rosacea symptoms.
• The cream contains both lipophilic (RRR-Alpha Tocopherol and Retinyl Palmitate) and hydrophilic antioxidant substances (Gluconolactone, Niacinamide, Taurine and Ethyl Ascorbic Acid) to support the skin's normal defense mechanisms.
humectants
Osmoregulating substances with a range of functions and effects have been included.
• In addition to their moisturising effects, polyhydroxy acids such as gluconolactone have also been shown to strengthen the skin's natural barrier against chemical irritants and provide non-irritating and non-stinging properties for clinically sensitive skin, including rosacea.
• Data strongly suggest that taurine is an important epidermal osmolyte required to maintain keratinocyte hydration in a dry environment. Smaller observational studies suggest that it may be helpful in reducing redness and inflammatory responses.
• Retinol derivatives restore the skin's own hydration mechanisms. Topical application can have a positive effect on the vascular components of rosacea, particularly erythema and telangiectasia.
• Niacinamide helps reduce transepidermal water loss; studies show that its prolonged use increases the thickness of the stratum corneum and promotes the improvement of barrier function.
This product has been manufactured in Australia under GMP conditions using pharmaceutical and topical/food grade ingredients (excipients, non-drugs).
